Born From the Storm

I’m Heather, the hands and heart behind Tower & Tide.  The brand was born during a time when, much like The Tower card in tarot, the foundations of the life I had so carefully curated began to crumble - and for a while, I crumbled with them.

I had always been the resilient one: fiercely independent, driven, with a high-powered career and a life built around being capable and in control. I was steady in a storm; the person others leaned on when their own worlds began to shake.

Until one day, the weight of holding everything together became too much - and the person I had always known myself to be shattered beneath it. Everything I had fought so hard to hold up came falling down around me.

And somewhere amongst the rubble, Tower & Tide began to take shape.

When that formidable version of myself fell away, I found myself returning to tarot and ritual. They became small anchors when very little else felt certain; a way to ground myself, find direction in the chaos, and slowly begin to find my way through the fog.

But The Tower is not simply a card of destruction. Its fall strips away what can no longer stand, revealing what remains beneath; the foundations strong enough to build upon and, amongst the ruins, space for something new to rise.

The name is woven into my story in more ways than one. The Tower stands for what endures when old structures fall. The Tide, forever drawn by the Moon, became its counterpart - an ancient rhythm of release, return and renewal. The Moon has always held a particular pull for me, and its quiet influence runs throughout Tower & Tide. It moves through cycles of darkness and light, pulling the tide out and calling it home again.

And in a final twist of fate, the Tower is more than just symbolic - we are fortunate enough to call an old Scottish tower our home, and it is here that Tower & Tide was born.

Tower & Tide grew from the rituals that helped me find solid ground when my own had disappeared.

Now, I create them to share a little of that same magic with others - rituals to reach for when life shifts beneath your feet, when something needs to be released, when something new is ready to begin, or simply when you need to find your own way back to yourself.
